For entree the blue team made a chicken sausage with fennel salad dish and steamed scallops with split peas and butter sauce. Red team made garfish with a cauliflower puree and a parsnip soup with bacon and stilton crumb.

The blue team was first to be judged, the scallops where “boring” and the chicken dish was a very small serving. It “missed the mark”.

The red team’s dishes were a hit. The garfish was lovely, it was cooked perfectly. The soup was very warming and “beautiful”. It was the perfect dish for the weather.

For mains, Brent chose to french the lamb racks, but after an hour and a half he was still only half way through. Jamie’s beef came out of the oven very rare and he had to change up the dish by pan frying it.

The blue team’s lamb cutlet with potatoes, carrots and mushy peas were cooked to perfection, it was a very professionally prepared dish.

Their roasted pork loan with red cabbage and peach was very sweet, like a dessert pork and Matt’s was overcooked. The judged didn’t like the pork dish at all.

The red team’s bangers and mash were raw, a very disappointing dish. But their roast beef with sautéed mushrooms were “just delicious”. It was a “beast of a steak” and nice and crispy on the outside.

Towards the end of the main service Blue team ran out of pork and had to start preparing new pork from the start. Marco wasn’t impressed with Emelia’s performance as a captain.

For dessert, red team made Brandy pudding with a brandy butterscotch sauce and strawberries. Blue team made earl grey jelly with berries and vanilla chantilly cream.

The blue team’s jelly was nice and refreshing, “elegant”, “wow”, “so english”. The red team’s pudding was nostalgic. It was a bit “heavy” and not drenched in sauce enough. The combination of elements were good.

Judging

The blue team’s entrees were average,  but the lamb dish was great. The dessert was beautiful.

The red team’s entrees were good, Amy’s soup was the dish of the day. For the mains, the bangers and mash were raw but the lamb however was fantastic. The dessert was ok.

The red team won in the dining room with the overall better dishes and also won in the kitchen service judged by Marco.

Emelia, Colin, Tash, Laura, Brent and Kirra will be facing elimination tomorrow night.
